Assignment # 8a
Rotating and Scaling a Logo

To Play, Click on center BOO!

This assignment required creating a text logo and modifying it over a timeline to rotate, scale, change color, and fade.

I replicated my logo on six different layers and applied different functions to each. The top right and bottom left logos rotate 360° counter clockwise, change color, and scale down. The top left and bottom right logos scale down and fade out. The middle logo rotates 360°  clockwise, changes color, and scales up. Another middle logo fades in and scales down to form a shadow effect behind the other. In order to create the 360°  rotations in the desired directions, I had to create additional keyframes on the layers.

In addition, I added sound when the center BOO! button is clicked.

Through this assignment I learned about the Flash time line, key framing and object properties. I also learned about layers, buttons and adding sound.

The Play button trigger area is the blue rectangle
 over the center BOO! above.

Each BOO! occurs on it's own layer.
This is a very important concept. By placing each occurrence on this own layer, you can better manage you movie.

The Flash Library below shows the objects created to trigger
the play and sound events. I didn't understand the Flash Library until I had completed the basic requirements for all three flash assignments and I went back to add buttons and sound. It makes it much easier to create scenes. You import the graphic (or design it in Flash), convert the graphic to a symbol (movie clip or button) and place it in the library. Always start with a clean screen when you are ready to build your movie. To place it on your stage you simply drag a copy from the library. You can even use symbols from other Flash Movie Libraries by opening their libraries.
