New for 2007
I've been in search of this prop for a couple years now and finally decided to make my own. For those who consider lawn jockeys a racial insult, I encourage you to read about them in wikipedia before sending me a nasty email. Anyway, I got the idea from a window cling I purchased many years ago. I purchased the perfect lantern a couple years ago.
Got this 13"x13"x3½" wooden wine box with handle at thrift store for $1.50.
Drilled 4 holes -
Two ¼" holes for support rod through both top and bottom of box.
Two smaller holes for attaching feet just in top of box.
This is the lamp I already had
Foot with screw attaching to boxPurchased one ¼"x48" metal pole
Had the store cut it in half using a chain cutter so I had two 2ft lengths.
Drilled ¼" hole in bottom of spine of skeleton
and inserted one end in skeleton.Purchased 35" realistic skeleton from Walmart for $10.
Here is the skeleton and support rods on the box.
Rods got all the way through box and will extend approx. 3" into the ground.
Plan to mount a wood block on top of foreground rod to support lantern weight.
I plan to weight box down with a brick inside.
